Portfolio
Web design and web app portfolio, live and ready to use.
I’m Doug Weil, owner of Web Design Nerd in Stow, Ohio, and I have designed and built websites for small businesses since 2007. This portfolio shows finished work I planned, designed, coded and launched myself: business websites, web apps and free online tools. Every project here is public and working today, so you can open it and try it.

Websites, web apps and tools I’ve built
Each card covers what the project does, the problem it solves and the technology behind it.
AI Search Report Card
What it does: Type a business, town and type of business. It asks the questions customers ask, then shows a letter grade, who got named instead, and a free fix list.
Why it exists: More customers ask for a recommendation instead of searching. Owners need to know whether their name comes up.
Tools used
Sales Email Tools
What it does: A free set of tools for people who sell: a sales email grader, a subject line tester, and commission and activity calculators.
Why it exists: To give salespeople honest feedback on a draft, with the public source behind every rule. No sign-up, and nothing typed is stored.
Tools used
RightPlace (live demo)
What it does: Guests see the wait and tonight's deals at local restaurants and bars. The room runs its waitlist, host stand, kitchen screen and door TV from devices it already owns.
Why it exists: So people know the wait before they go, and independent places get the door tools big chains have. Starting in Akron and Summit County.
Tools used
Restaurant Owner Tools
What it does: Free calculators for food cost, pour cost, labor, tip pools, break-even and more, each with a worked example.
Why it exists: Independent restaurant and bar owners need to know whether a night made money without hiring an accountant to tell them.
Tools used
Trade Owner HQ
What it does: Free pricing tools for trade owners: hourly rate from public wage data, markup and margin, job pricing, and what field-service software really costs.
Why it exists: So the work pays the owner as well as the bills, with every number showing where it came from.
Tools used
Akron Home Costs
What it does: Repair price guides and cost calculators for homeowners in Akron and Summit County, starting with water heaters, sewer lines, sump pumps and drains.
Why it exists: So homeowners know a fair price and how to check a contractor's license before they hire. Every price shows its source and date.
Tools used
Outdoor Survivalist Trainer
What it does: Free survival lessons rewritten in plain words from public manuals, with photos, quizzes and badges.
Why it exists: Public survival manuals are long and hard to read. These lessons keep the facts and drop the jargon.
Tools used
Gainsville
What it does: Log meals, track protein, carbs and fat from a large public food database, and keep lifting programs and workout logs in the same place.
Why it exists: Built first for one household that wanted food and training in one simple app instead of three.
Tools used
Credible Theories
What it does: Strange history and big theories, from lost texts to declassified UFO records, each traced back to the original document.
Why it exists: So readers can see the source for every claim and judge it for themselves, instead of taking someone's word for it.
Tools used
Bottleneck Finder
What it does: Ranks which parts and materials are in short supply and lists the public companies that make them, with sources on every pick.
Why it exists: To make supply shortages easy to follow, with a public log so the results can be checked over time.
Tools used
Kids Learning Arcade
What it does: Free learning games for young kids: letters, spelling, counting and more. No sign-in, nothing to download, and a child lock in every game.
Why it exists: Most kids' game sites are loud and full of distractions. This one is built to be calm, with a short guide for parents on screen time.
Tools used
Business Website Analyzer
What it does: Type in a website and pick the kind of business. It runs 25 plain checks, like tap-to-call, hours, booking and reviews, and shows the three biggest wins.
Why it exists: Most site checkers grade code. Owners need to know what their site is missing as a business.
Tools used
Road Trip Weather
What it does: Plan a drive with one or more stops and see the weather you will hit at each point, at the time you will be there. It also finds the best time to leave.
Why it exists: Weather apps show the forecast where you are now. On a long drive, what matters is the weather where you will be in three hours.
Tools used
Bridge to Bridge Lawn Care
What it does: A homepage and contact page for Bridge to Bridge Lawn Care: services with photos, real job photos, a text button, and a quote form with tap choices.
Why it exists: To show a small service business what a site that brings in quote requests looks like, on all devices.

How I work
Built for real people, fast on all devices
Every project starts with one real person and the problem in front of them, then gets the simplest design that solves it. Pages are built mobile first, tested on all devices before launch, and set up for search engines from day one with clean titles, structured data and fast load times. Most apps run on Cloudflare’s global network, and client websites run on WordPress so owners can make their own edits.
